My LaCie 30mg cirrus drive has begun to emit a high-pitched whizzing sound occasionally. The sound is at a lower frequency than the drive itself, and it comes and goes every 5 minutes or so. It sounds like it may be the fan. Should I give the fan bearings a dose of lithium grease? Has anyone had a similar problem? The drive has been running almost constantly now for about two years. I bought it in September of 1988. Not bad, LaCie, but I would like to solve this problem. Fred Dushin Syracuse University
