The Typist sounds like an interesting product and would mean that I did not have to buy an expensive scanner to scan in all the documents that I want to scan in, but MacWorld's review was lukewarm. Does anyone have any practical experience with it that they could share with me? Any better OCR solutions? Responses by e-mail encouraged to help unclog the Mac newsgroups. thanks, Aram Adishian adishian@dorm.rutgers.edu

I would strongly suggest, that you try the Typist with the sort of material you will be scanning. The Typist has its strengths and weaknesses and recognition of fuzzy documents is definately not a strenth. Multicolumn text is also much harder then with for example the Scanjet+ and Omnipage. Then again the Typist is really nice, if you have to for example quote short exerpts of text into your document. +----------------------------------------- I Aukia: a38856b@puukko.hut.fi
