Hello netfolk, I have an Apple 13" colour monitor on my IIcx, and notice that the area around the display section of the screen is steadily creeping towards a blue-black, and when a screen saver is operating, that the whole screen is also blue/black & I can see 1cm spaced scan (?), interlace (?) lines. Does this augur doom for my monitor? Has anyone had similar experiences, and ar e they a premonition of something worse to come. In my experience, monitors/vid eo boards don't just stop, they dye in a flaming, smoking glory! I'd like to avoid that if possible :-) BTW, I haven't misadjusted the brightness/contrast, and I have degaussed the monitor :-) Thanks in advance. ============================================================================== ! Timothy A. Waire, Jr. - sorry I can't respond by email; seems my host doesn't like your address. Anyway- Yea, that happened to me too. It was usually proceded by what is best described as "screen sparking" in intervals of around 2 minutes. Apple told me that such screen sparking was normal during "break in" periods, but I told them my monitor was over 2 years old. Turns out, there was a capacitor out of whack in the powe r supply. I paid $97 for the repair. It's probably best to have the monitor repaired by some technician, since it's a really cheap repair. Richard B. Hutchings Dept of Info and Comp Sci UC Irvine
