This has got to be an EXTREMELY commonly asked question, the kind nobody wants to take the time to answer, because the *think* everyone else will respond. I'm a notice user, and I don't know, so I'll make it worth your time (see below.) Can I connect a standard SERIAL (rs232) PostScript printer to my Macintosh somehow? I know the hardware is on the Mac, I use the serial port for modems and for connecting to other serial lines without problems, but I want my word processor programs to know to ship the PostScript language data out of this SERIAL line instead of the appletalk line or anything else. Is there someway to set the software up for this? Even a commercial product? To make this worth your time to help out this poor soul, I'll mail you off a nice crisp $1 bill, as a token of my generosity for the first person with a good response. Maybe I'll even send out several if several people want to be kind, and take some time writing back. A quick answer like "you can't do it" probably won't get you a dollar, unless you're the only person to respond. Please send your postal address along with your response, and I'll put the token thank-you gift in the mail within 5 minutes of receiving your message. Thanks. official@xn.ll.mit.edu (really Thomas E. Jones, tj@xn.ll.mit.edu or (617) 981-5093.
