My Mac II will not boot. This problem occurred immediately after I tried to be smart, by removing some files from my system folder. The behavior I observe now is that when I power up, the smiling computer shows up, and then the screen blanks, and the questionmark disk appears. More disconcerting is the fact that this behavior is unchanged when attempting to boot from floppy. It has been suggested that I ground the clock chip, to erase any information that may be stored in the EEPROMS that may be screwing things up. The instructions I received were "find ground on the board, and connect this point to all the pins on the clock chip. I can find ground easily enough (negative on the batteries, right?), but as to the location of the clock chip, well, that's another story. I'd appreciate any helpful suggestions. Thanks.
