A friend of mine who does not have access to the net would like to ask a question: -- A little over a year ago, I had my SE upgraded to an SE/30 at a nearby Apple dealer. It's been working just fine. Last week, at MacWorld Expo, I bought a 24-bit colour board (the RasterOps Colorboard 264/SE30). I ran into a snag, however, when I tried to install it. The board comes with a connector mounted on a bracket, and this bracket is supposed to bolt onto the SE/30's chassis in such a way that the connector sticks out of the expansion slot cutout in the back of the case. The problem is that my chassis comes nowhere near the expansion slot cutout so I have nothing to bolt the connector bracket onto. Obviously, something is missing. I took the Mac to my dealer and the service technician there says that I need an expansion slot mounting bracket. He's ordered one for me, but he couldn't tell me immediately how much it will cost, or when it will arrive. My question (finally!) is this: Why didn't my Mac already have this mounting bracket? Don't all SEs and SE/30s have this bracket? I would think so, but the technician was vague on this point when I asked him. If an SE has this bracket, would it be removed temporarily during the upgrade to an SE/30? The technician says absolutely not, but I'm wondering. -- Since this point probably isn't of general interest, please reply by mail. Thank you for your help, Angela -- Angela Lyson Mobile Data International ...!uunet!van-bc!mdivax1!lyson 11411 Number Five Road Richmond, B.C.
