A friend of mine and I both own 70Mbyte Jasmine DirectDrives which we purchased back in the summer of 1988. They have both proven very reliable connected to our Plus and SE. Last December, my friend connected his drive to someone else's Mac II setup. This caused the Mac II to dislay the sad Mac icon, and the files on the drive could for the most part not be recovered once the drive was reconnected to the Mac Plus. Recently he purchased a Mac IIcx and had similar problems with the drive (which had been reformatted), and the drive would not mount. As I had ordered a Mac IIsi, I got concerned about this problem and contacted Jasmine. This is what I have to say: Jasmine answered my very first call, put me on hold for less than 30 seconds, sent me the latest driver software for free the day I called and I received it a week later - this is good because I'm in Canada. The new driver fixed my friend's problem in seconds and I have not had any problems connecting my drive to my IIsi. There has been so many bad things said about Jasmine, I thought I'd mention they do some things right too. BTW, the drive seems to be faster with the switch from version 1.08 to version 1.77 of the driver software. Bertrand Limoges, Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada
