[comp.sys.mac.hardware] control panel

I sure hope somebody can help...

When ever I go to access the control panel my hard drive spins
for a while and then I get that dreaded bomb picture.  Yikes!!
Everything else works fine.  Any ideas?

Will I have to rebuild the system?
