I'd be grateful for some authoritative advice. I live in 240 volt Australia and am going to 120 volt (I understand) Japan for 2 years. My SE just died tonight and I want to replace it by an LC with colour monitor - the Apple 12" hi res RGB unless some- one tells me how I can do better cheaply. The LC's CPU is no problem electrically because it can run at 100 to 240 volts AC. However, the 12" monitor available in Australia wants 220 to 240 volts AC at 50 to 60 hertz (according to the specs). Can I buy the monitor here in Australia and simply use a transformer to make it work with the Japanese voltage, as one might with some household appliances? Or is there some reason why the conversion is not so simple, as I understand is the case with other appliances?? With hopeful thanks in advance, Paul ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Paul Black Applied Linguistics in Education black_pd@darwin.ntu.edu.au Northern Territory University, Australia
