Calling all mac users!! I have recently (last week) received a new IIsi (5/40 with a new bus maths co- processor & 30-chip)and was quite keen to see how it compared,speed-wise,with our IIcx(4/40 and 20-chip). Having had conflicting reports about its performan- ce (from colleagues and mac magazines) I was very disappointed to discover that the IIsi was considerably slower than the IIcx despite the fact that it should, given its configuration, be noticeably faster. So after much conflab with my suppliers it transpires that it is the on-board video card in the si that slows down its calc functions and that I would have to buy an new video card, similar to that in the cx in order for it to function at peak rate. Humph! He says this is what makes it cheaper than the cx !! Anyway I have found that setting the monitor to basic 4 gray black & white allows it to run much faster. Has anyone else thought about this, come across this, or found a way around it without buying another video card ?? I should be very interested to hear. from Phlip P.S. re.mouse bugs - have had no problems nor has anyone else here at L'pool.
