I need some sage advice from anyone out there who can recommend a laser printer to use with my Mac II (8 meg. RAM; 60 meg. HD; 40 mHz Daystar accelerator card). The printer will be used primarily to print musical scores (i.e., intense graphics) using a music notation application called Finale. I am told that true Postscript is essential (i.e., not a Postscript emulation). Based upon advertising and magazine reviews, I am considering: QMS 410 NEC Silentwriter 2 Model 90 Texas Instruments microLaser PS35 (or PS17) I am by nature skeptical of advertising, and the magazine reviews, while comparing features, specifications etc., do not give much "inside" information on reliability, durability, overall design etc. Does anyone have any strong feelings (pro or con) about the merits of these machines (or alternative recommendations)? If I won't need very many different fonts, is the TI PS35 worth the extra money (versus the PS17)? Besides its speed, does the QMS have advantages to justify paying 20%-30% more than the others? The NEC is inexpensive ($1449 street price). Does anyone know whether it is any good? Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer. WHW, Brooklyn, New York
