[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Hooking Up A Sensory Device

lcs@remus.rutgers.edu (Lyle C. Seplowitz) (02/06/91)

I'm taking an animation/experiments in computer art class which uses the
MacII. We have been asked to implement an animation for an artist who
will be using it as part of a performance piece. The main problem that
we might have is that she wants to have the computer triggered only
when a person nears it. We can use a light or heat sensor to handle
that situation. The problem is how to get that signal into the Mac?
Can the device be hooked up in some way to the Mac's mouse port? I am
not familiar with Mac hardware. Can this be done? Is it a managable
task?

Thanks for any suggestions that anyone can provide!
