[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Apple InkJet?

kerry@ccu.umanitoba.ca (Kerry Stevenson) (02/05/91)

I keep hearing rumours about Apple introducing an inkjet printer very soon.
To keep me from buying a DeskWriter, can some someone provide a bit of info
about this alleged new printer?

According to a macweek article (12/6/90 I think) Apple plans to announce
an inkjet printer based on the Canon 360dpi BubbleJet engine, as well as a
new low-end laserwriter, for $600 & $1200[?] _list_ respectively, in March
(at the "boston seybold conference"?). These will include TreuType,
apple's outline font technology, divorced from System 7....
I will be lining up to buy one of these as soon as they're available.

s is from MacWeek (2/5/91)....

On March 11, Apple will introduce two new printers, the LaserWriter LS
(which will replace the Personal LaserWriter SC), and the StyleWriter.

The LaserWriter LS will have 1mb of Ram, and 13 TrueType fonts built-in.
List Price $1299. (300 dpi, typical laser printer.)

The StyleWriter is based on the canon BJ-10e bubble jet printer. It is
capable of 360 dpi, and will also ship with the 13 TruType fonts.
List Price $599.

These are not PostScript, and will work with 6.0.7 with the help of
a TrueType init. However, they will work with Adobe Typ Manager.
Doesn't Everything?
