[comp.sys.mac.hardware] HELP!!! SCSI termination!

thewho@elaine22.stanford.edu (Derek Fong) (02/06/91)

Okay, thanks to some nice people who responded, I figured out how to
get my old 40 MB drive out of my SE/30 and replace it with the drive from
my 100 MB external drive. Everything works but....

The internal drive will not boot up unless it is connected to the external
drive (which now contains my old 40 MB drive) with the SCSI terminator. The
40 MB doesn't have to be on, just connected. WHY??????

Is the my drive (100 MB) not terminated automatically? Why was my old 40 MB
able to terminate itself fine when nothing was attached, and then use the
terminator on the external once it was connected via the SCSI port?

I am baffled, and hope there is a simple solution to this problem. Sure, it
is okay to have the other drive connected to it when it is on my desk, but I
dont' really need the 40 MB right now, and when I travel, I don't want to
have to lug around this extra drive if I don't need to.

Anyways, ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated.

Please email responses.

Thanks in advance.
