I've been using an HP LaserJet IIP with the public domain deskjet printer driver. The connection to the computer is through a 19200 baud serial cable to the printer port of a Mac II. I've been satisfied with the quality of the print from the IIP, but the speed is very lacking, which I believe is due to the serial connection. What options do I have to increase the speed of the connection. I know of the appletalk option, but it sounds too expensive (~$250). Is there any way of increasing the speed of the serial port on the printer? I know the DeskWriter can use a 57.6k baud rate, and I would think that the serial hardware on the IIP should be similar enough to operate at that speed. The menu on panel, however, only goes up to 19200. Thanks, for any advice. Damon damon@voder.nsc.com
