[comp.sys.mac.hardware] A "burning" question on Apple's Power Suuplies

SOS2@psuvm.psu.edu (02/07/91)

I am interested in powering up any of the MACII family motherboards
with a non-Apple power supply. Apple's power supplies are significantly
more expensive than standard PC supplies which come in any flavor
necessary (for example, higher power capabilities) and are easily obtained.
Does anybody know if there are any compatibility problems other than the
fact that the connectors that Apple uses to power its motherboards are
not standard, by any means, for PC power supplies. If the imcompatibility
is merely this, where could one find the pinouts for the power connectors
to Apple's motherboards? Having seen quite a few messages on this group
concerning MACII power supplies, I think it would be useful information
to many of us,
                  thank you, Dimitris Daskopoulos (d1d@ecl.psu.edu)
                              (posting from a friend's account)

PS. How would I get in contact with APPLE'S TECHNICAL SUPPORT people?
    Would they "support" this question?
