[comp.sys.mac.hardware] jerky mouse pointer on IIsi?

Hi,

I recently purchased a Mac IIsi and have overall been very pleased with it
(aside from the fact that about 20% of my software crashes on it now and then,
mostly games). However, I have discovered a very irritating problem and I
don't know if it is just a defect in my mouse/system or in the IIsi's in
general, and I am wondering if anyone else has experienced it. The problem is
that the mouse does not track very well - it physically feels and glides just
fine, but the pointer occasionally jumps on the screen, sometimes an inch or
more from where it was, when the mouse is not being moved. Needless to say,
this is EXTREMELY inconvenient when trying to select text or, say, carefully
place pixels in a drawing program. Sometimes it takes me three or four tries
to select a word without the pointer jumping away. I did try cleaning the
mouse, but since it was brand new anyway it not surprisingly had no effect.

So has anyone else seen this problem or should I try to get a new mouse under
the warranty? Replies by email would be fine.

Thanks,
Roland
