I don't know about these ROM's, but SCSI hard drives are now around
$250 for 20Meg drives! I know for fact you can hook a SCSI drive to
your LaserWriter, and put ANY font you wish on it. This is the solution
many typesetters use for their LaserWriters and typesetters.

I seriously doubt Apple will sell you ROM's for less than $100. So
as soon as you want three, the drive saves you money.

Jason Hellwege, in an article asks: THE REALLY ESOTERIC TRIVIA QUESTION:

What was the name of the actor who played Tonto along side
Clayton Moore in the 1950's "Lone Ranger" serial?

Of course, all Canadians know it was Jay Silverheels, who came from Ontario.

MUSJJH@lure.latrobe.edu.au (02/06/91)

Oh great sages of the Net please assist a lowly prospective Laserwriter
purchaser by bestowing upon me true enlightenment to these questions...

SPECIFIC QUESTIONS:

1: How great an improvement in the perofrmance of a Laserwriter can be
gained from adding more RAM? Is the extra ram used to speed up the ammount
of page which can be imaged in one hit, or is it just used for more
font caching?

2: Apple's brochures for the NTX mention optional Font ROMs which can
be plugged into the board to give you extra onboard fonts. Do these
ROMs actually exist? I'd be particularly interested in a ROM containing
Adobe's "Sonata" font.

THE MORE ESOTERIC QUESTIONS:

1: I've heard the stories about Apple intending to release an inkjet
printer to replace the Imagewriter, but are there any new highend
Laserwriters on the way, eg. NTX version of the Personal NT,
more powerful version of the NTX II, etc.? Are there likely to be
any price drops in the existing printer line?

2: At some point in the future I would like to add a LaserMaster card
(or some equivellent) to improve the resolution of whichever printer
I purchase. At present all these cards are based around the Canon SX
engine (as used in the NTX). Are there any plans to release versions
of these cards for other engine types (such as the JX engine which
is used in the Personal NT)?

THE REALLY ESOTERIC TRIVIA QUESTION:

What was the name of the actor who played Tonto along side
Clayton Moore in the 1950's "Lone Ranger" serial?

ALTERNATE TRIVIA QUESTION:

What is the collective noun for a group of Owls?

Many Thanks in Advance.....
Respondants will receive answers to the trivia Q's.
