I'm thinking about buying an Advanced Gravis Mousestick ADB. I'd be using it
for playing games like Mission Starlight that use keys for movement. How does
the joystick map that, or do you just plug it in and have it work?

Doesn't that game have a mouse/keyboard toggle? At any rate the mousestick you are talking about has three programmable buttons. Try to get quickeys lite with it, and check out the Gravis (Logitech) three button supermouse.
