A week or two ago I posted asking whether anyone else had used one of the NEW Apple 12" macintosh monochrome monitors, since mine had a minor annoyance: a faint "ghost" of any dark figure, about 1/16" to the right of the figure. Noone who responded had the NEW 12" mono monitor, which still has high (640x480) resolution but which is housed in a more compact case which looks like this from the side: *** *** **** ************ ************ ************ ************ My system consists of a IIcx and 4 bit Apple video card upgraded to 8 bit. I tried the monitor on another IIcx with a different video card and had the same problem (plus an additional, annoying visible-scan-line problem). I then had the monitor replaced with another Apple 12" monochrome monitor which had the same problems, even when I tried it on a third system (Mac II, 4-bit card). I called several dealers but none had any experience with the new monitor. I also called Apple tech support but since the product is so new they couldn't really help me either. My dealer suggested that perhaps my problem is that the new monitor is only intended to work correctly with the new video cards (8x24) or the on-board video of the LC and IIsi. So I guess what I'll do is try to exchange the monitor for one of the original high-res monochrome monitors, if there are any still available. This brings up the following possibility: If anyone owns one of these older, bulkier monitors and is using a new video card (an unlikely configuration, I'll admit), I could trade them for my new monitor... Please write if you have one of the new monochrome monitors, to let me know whether they ALL have problems on ALL systems, or not. Best regards, Ralph
