[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Using Non-Mac SCSI Drives on a IIsi

wscott@en.ecn.purdue.edu (Wayne H Scott) (02/22/91)

I found an add in a computer magazine for the following drive:
	96 MB SCSI 28ms seek
	Maxtor LXT-100	3.5" half-height internal or external

Can I mount (or plug-in if extern.) this drive on my IIsi?
What kind of software do I need to format it?
etc..

If anyone has used this drive and/or has experience getting Non-macintosh
SCSI drive working on a mac, send me mail.

I have an EMAC impact 40 plugged into my IIsi (its just a regular
SCSI drive) and it works fine. On other models of Macs, I've always
used externals and they work great (I liked externals because they
gave me better flexability for security purposes). Whether this
particular drive that you are looking at is good is another
question. The driver software should come with the drive and you
should ask the vendor if it does. If it doesn't, then it sounds like
you don't want to deal with it. Good luck.
