I have an SE with 2 720kB drives and would like to exchange one of these for a 1.44MB drive, to be able to read and write IBM 3.5" diskettes. I would also like to avoid the ridiculously high prices Apple here in Sweden charge for such a convertion. So, is it a simple matter of finding a 3.5" drive of the higher (quad?) density, or does the Macintosh utilize hardware magic to get things working ? I'd like to just rip out the old unit, plug in the new one and go, but unfortunately the Murphy factor is usually not negligible... Has anyone had any experience of this kind of activity?
