[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Lifetime of a Syquest disk?

     I'm sure this question has been asked a thousand times already, but
what is the rough lifetime of a Syquest removable disk?  I've heard that
the lifetime of a Bernoulli disk is about 6-12 months with heavy usage
(are Syquest disks like floppies, like the Bernoulli, or is it a hard
platter?).

     I'm looking for a backup solution, and I'm trying to decide between
a Syquest disk or a tape drive.  Using a tape drive would be much
cheaper, but the Syquest has the advantage of being a disk drive.  I'm
wondering if the media used by Syquest has a fixed lifetime.

     Any help will be greatly appreciated.
