[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Lowest price SIMMs?

gabe@sol.ctr.columbia.edu (Gabe Wiener) (02/26/91)

I just called MacConnection and they're asking $99 for 2 1meg SIMMs. Can
anyone suggest any mail order dealers that might carry them for less than
$50/meg?

Yes, I definitely can. I just ordered two 1Meg SIMMS at 80ns for $43
a piece. And you can get them at 70ns for $47. The three to five day
delivery charge is $3.50. The Company is called Peripheral Outlet,
and the number is 1-800-332-6581.

They also sell video cards, accelerators, and memory for the
Classic, Portable, and IIfx & IIci.

The girl even sounds cheerful when she answers your call.

I don't have a neat signature file. Don't think any less of
me.

I just took my Plus to my local Sun Computers. I upgraded to 4Mb of RAM,
80ns, and they charged me $50 per meg, including installation!

This was the best price I've ever found (from a retailer), and they beat out
severa college computer stores. I have no idea about others Sun's, but the
one I went to was in San Diego, California, the La Mesa branch on Jackson
Drive.

If you ask me, I think I got a pretty good deal, considering mail order would
have come to about the same (including shipping), and I can take it back if
something goes wrong (instead of shipping the damn things.)

PS Okay, I had to pay sales tax, but it's still a good deal.
