[stuff deleted] Doug, I think the problem is in the way you are handling the paper between print jobs. I had similar problems that have ended since I started taking the following steps. 1.) Make sure you take the printer "off-line" by pressing the second button from the top on the control panel (select) before manually shuffling the paper i.e. before you turn the platten knob to move the paper up to tear off some printed pages. 2.) When you have reset the "top-of-paper" to nearly the right place for printing, and before you use the "select" button to go back on-line, use the "line feed" button to advance one line. Then use "select" to go back on-line. These two actions seem to "re-synch" the platten control mechanism for proper printing. I hope these steps can cure your problems also. I found it took a little discipline to do this consistently, but when I remember to do it right, the Imagewriter works A-Okay. early ImageWriter IIs also had a "bug" (acknowledged by Apple), a malfunctioning mechanical out-of-paper sensor, which is fixed by replacing it with an optical sensor (now standard on printers). if Rick's recommended fix does not improve your problem, you may want to pursue investigating this possibility (get back in touch and I get dig out more details on it) Cheers, ---Werner -+- -+- -+- -+- -+- -+- -+- -+- -+- | Internet: werner@rascal.ics.utexas.edu | | werner@cs.utexas.edu | | BITnet: werner@UTXVM | | UUCP: ...!uunet!cs.utexas.edu!werner | -+- -+- -+- -+- -+- -+- -+- -+- -+- R.I.P.: Dame Margot Fonteyn, 1921-1991, Primaballerina of the ages
