Some time ago, I asked this group about compatible clones of the DeskWriter and the ImageWriter. Here is what I learned: > The DeskWriter isn't an Apple printer, it's a Hewlett-Packard. For > around 600 or 700, it's the best printer around, much better than > any imagewriter or clone. Dot-matrix=yuck. > > Apple/HP have great educational discounts here- but it's prob. also > cheaper in the US. That was the only direct response. However, some new products are to be announced soon: > [...] from MacWeek (2/5/91).... > > On March 11, Apple will introduce two new printers, the LaserWriter LS > (which will replace the Personal LaserWriter SC), and the StyleWriter. > > The LaserWriter LS will have 1mb of Ram, and 13 TrueType fonts built-in. > List Price $1299. However, they will work with Adobe Typ Manager. > Doesn't Everything? > Word is that the backorders on the BubbleJet are expected to be huge... > so get your order in early folks. Looks like it's a good idea to wait for these new printers. Thanks to the responder, Oliver Schoett Institut f. Informatik, Technische Univ.
