When Ma Bell was ordered to start letting people connect non-bell equipment to their lines they were given the right to disconnect the line if that equipment should somehow cause harm to the telephone network. You can argue that a BBS that has calling card numbers available would in fact cause harm to the network and therefore could be disconnected. I wonder how people would react if they had just disconnected the line and blacklisted the Sys Op from ever getting telephone service again? John Eaton !hplabs!hp-pcd!john
