[comp.sys.mac.hardware] SIMMs

sokolov@mit-amt.MEDIA.MIT.EDU (Michael Sokolov) (11/09/89)

Did I recently see a posting claiming 1 meg rams were available
somewhere for $79 (or at any rate < $100) ? I lost the article, and no
amount of poring over MacWorld seems to be able to uncover such a
price...

please respond via E-mail.

You can FTP diagrams from Apple.com along with instructions.
You are looking for tech notes #176, look in pub/dts/mac/tn directory

around there. The diagrams are in MacDraw format.

I was just wondering if any of you guys know how to read the SIMMs marking. Also, what kind of chip marking do I expect to see for a 4Mbytes chip. Give me some example from several compannies.

FYI, About 2 years ago I bought 4 1-megabyte SIMMS from a
company called Technology Works. The main reason I bought from
them was the lifetime warranty.

Last Friday, 1 of my SIMMS went bad. I called these folks on Monday
and they mailed me out 4 new 1-megabyte SIMMS to take care of the
problem. The SIMMS came in on Tuesday.

I call this EXCELLENT service! I am one happy boy! :-). So I
guess this is a plug for the company if anyone is still considering
purchasing SIMMS. You might pay a little more, but the warranty
and the company you purchase from is worth every penny!

Good to hear this. I bought from them zillions of MBs, and I am very much
satisfied with them too. A couple of times I had to return them; there was no
problem doing so. They take P.O's by fax, good price and good service.
Incidentally, I bought 4 MB SIMMs from them three times in a three week inter-
val at three different prices. I wish they would have adjusted the prices
as K-Mart and other places do by giving the cheapest price...Maybe one day...
