I am considering buying a Sendfax modem from one of the following. I would appreciate any comments from someone having experience with any of them, or any comparisons in terms of features, or alternative suggestions, vendors. I am planning to use it with a Mac SE, mainly to connect to work mainframes from home. 1. ZOOM/Modem MX2400S with 4800bps Sendfax, fax/modem software. $119 plus $12 serial cable, mail solicitation from manufacturer. Add $20 for 9600 Sendfax. 7-year warranty. 2. Same as above from mail order firm, 4800bps sendfax $119 inc. cable. $129 for 9600bps sendfax. 3. MAGIC 2400/4800 Sendfax/modem $99. 2400/9600 for $119. From MacProducts USA. 4. Challenger VP24/96 (9600 send fax) for $99 from MacCenter. At which point down this list does it become too good to be truly good. I assume the cable is additional cost in 3. and 4. Thanks in advance.

I bought the Challenger from MacCenter and have been happy with it. MacProducts USA is alleged to be somewhat less than reputable, but this is second-hand. The Challenger is just a private-label Zoom modem, I believe. Sam
