I have been looking into upgrading my SE (it seems to be getting slower every day). One product that looks attractive is the MacProducts (which is also the Novy) Railgun 030. A 16MHz 030 board is $499. 16Mhz 68882 is $99. Since I have an Ehman FPD, I would also get their video adapter for $149. I would then move my 80ns 1 Meg SIMMs from the SE board to the 030, and get 4-256K SIMMs for the SE (to act as video memory). So, the whole thing should cost less than $800. Questions: 1) Has anyone out there had first-hand (or even second-hand) experience with this board? 2) Are my (stated and unstated) assumptions above correct? Has anyone used this board with an external display that was meant for the SE? What is their "video adapter", exactly? Just an expensive extender for the "SE-slot" connector (and, therefore, something that one might build cheaply oneself) or more? Thanks for any info. If you email to me, I will (eventually) summarize for everyone's benefit. -- Michael Stiber stiber@cs.ucla.edu ...{ucbvax,ihpn4}!ucla-cs!stiber UCLA Computer Science Dept., 3436 Boelter Hall, Los Angeles, CA 90024
