I have a few questions about Mac-based video editing which I hope some readers may be able to answer. I need to prepare several sets of videotapes for conducting experiments of visual perception (of sign language). In order to prepare the stimuli, I need to do rather tedious, frame-by-frame editing of the original videotapes. Essentially, I need to obscure/edit various portions of the video frame, lay down that frame, etc -- until I have a copy of the original tape (with the changes). I envision using a digitizing board like the RasterOps 364 to capture single frames, using something like PhotoShop to edit the picture, and then sending this single frame to a recorder. Does this sound possible? Does anyone know what is required to record a single frame (or picture) from the Mac to an editing VTR? Is there some other way to do this? Thanks in advance for any help anyone may offer. Sherman Wilcox Dept. of Linguistics University of New Mexico
