I'm considering purchasing a Mac SE/30 but I'm not sure whether the IIsi is a better deal. Plus, I see a lot of posts concerning problems with the SE/30 in this newsgroup which gives me cause for concern. I don't want anything "lower" than a SE/30 because I'd only have to upgrade. Can anyone give me the relative merits of either machine. I'd especially like comments from people who actually USE these Macs to tell me what they like (or don't like) about their particular machine. This will, I hope, really help me decide which Mac is "better." Thanks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Now, if these men do not die well, it will be a black matter for the King that led them to it;" -Henry V Act IV, scene 1 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mary, I just bought a Mac IIsi at the end of last year. I love the machine and it more than meets my needs, now. But since I got a "bare bones" system (ie, 2 MB memory and a 40 meg hard drive), the first thing I had to do was upgrade the memory to 5 Meg. Then I had to get a Nu-bus adapter card to get the math co-processer since the IIsi does not come equipped with one. In contrast to the SE30, I have a 13 in. Hi-rez monitor so the screen is much larger than the standard Mac screen, in B&W mode, the IIsi is comparable in performance, but in 256 color mode, it is much slower. You All in all, I'm glad I got the IIsi rather than the SE30 I was looking at originally. Just be prepared to add the math co-processer and get at least 5 Megs of memory. *mikes* -- Michael Sweeney - via FidoNet node 1:125/777 UUCP: ...!uunet!hoptoad!fidogate!161!555!Michael.Sweeney INTERNET: Michael.Sweeney@f555.n161.z1.FIDONET.ORG
