[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Problems with a Vendor, Crate, Data Storage Dev., Chris Lemoine

Has anyone had any dealings with this guy?

I'm having a problem with a company called Data Storage Development,
of Sun Valley, CA and the owner/pres. Chris Lemoine.
The story is a long one I'll try to hit the High points. I have a Crate
Technology innerdrive, a Maxtor LXT-100S 96mb 3.5" hard drive. I thought was
bad. I called Crate's 800# and got Data Storage Dev. I went ahead and had DSD
checkout the drive. Chris reported back that the drive was ok. I ask him to
return my drive. The total cost for his services $35.00. No problem, the check
was with the drive and he has cashed it already. That was the third week of
January 1991. I still do not have my drive and all my calls do not seem to
produce any response. Mr. Lemoine has a excuse for every call.
3rd Week of January: I asked for the drives return.
The last week of January he promisses to ship the next day.
1st Week in February he tells me the war is slowing down the shippers
2nd Week of February: wait two weeks for a UPS Trace.
last Week in February: Wait two weeks for refund, promisses to send UPS Check.
2nd Week in March: UPS has found the Drive in Atlanta - returned to CA.
3rd Week in March: No answer 800# Mon/Tues, Weds left messages.

I'm really beginning to feel like I'm on a merry-go-round. Mr. Lemoine would
not give me the UPS package number, so I could check locally with UPS. After
they found the drive he has them return it to him, instead of forwarding it to
me. Has anyone ever had dealings with this man? and has he been straight with
you?

I have since learned that Chris Lemoine was the pres. of Crate Technolgy
before they went bellyup.
