[comp.sys.mac.hardware] StyleWriter Ink after one week

folta@tove.cs.umd.edu (Wayne Folta) (03/21/91)

As someone suggested, I posted a page of StyleWriter output in the front
window for a week, with part of it covered. There was no yellowing of the
paper, and there was no ink fading (or so little that I couldn't tell).
(The paper looks cheap and has no watermarks, so I assume it is copier-
quality non-bond paper.)

I then ran the page under the faucet. Initially, a very tiny amount of ink
bled, but running it under hot water and rubbing until the paper started
coming apart failed to smear the ink (or even transfer it to my fingers).
Drying the paper with a paper towel didn't transfer any ink to the paper towel,
but either the pressure or letting the paper sit allowed a little ink to
transfer through the *back* of the paper to a piece underneath it.

So, the ink is not waterproof like a LaserWriter's toner, but it is not
waterprone like felt-tip markers, either.
