[fa.info-vax] 750 microcode speedup?

I heard a rumor that some firm has rewritten the 750 microcode with
no wait states, and that it runs faster than a 780. Anyone know
who, how much, or any other details?

There was such a notice posted at the Usenix meeting. The three
principles of the firm (located in Souther California) are
named Lipra, Sloof, and Yad. I believe the firm's name is
something clever like Lipra, Sloof, and Yad Associates,
but I am not completely sure. They claim to have new proms
for the 750 which make it go very fast and to have been
affiliated with all the Vax projects at DEC (something about
Central Architecture Support).

I dunno. I think the names are kind of suspect.

Prof. Lirpa is the name Audio Magazine uses for their April 1
design articles. I didn't expect anybody to take that announcement
seriously!

This does not mean that a sharp engineer couln't make the machines
go faster, but...
