A colleague of mine has a AST Turbo Laser PS. He bought it about two years ago from a small import company here in switzerland. As an absolute computer novice, he realized that the printout was not correctly placed on the paper but thought it was his own fault for a long time. Some day, he showed it to me, and I found out that it was definitely a problem with the printer. I tried to consult the company who imported it to switzerland, but they're not selling AST printers any more and have no idea what to do. So I hope there is a AST-user out here on the net who can give a hint. The problem is simple: The AST invariably believes that it is printing on "US Letter" size paper instead of "A4" and clips the print area accordingly. All attempts to convince it trough software (page setup and even attempts to change the setting using direct postscript commands) have failed. Hoping for a switch inside the printer labelled (US/DIN) I opened the case and found about 30 unlabelled switches and jumpers... I'm sure that it is possible to make the AST printing on A4 size paper, but I don't have an idea how. My colleague would be very glad if someone knew what switch to flip or what special postscript code to send to the AST. Thank you in advance! ======================== +----------------------------+ ***************** Lukas Zeller |\ E-Mail: /| * Never trust a * ETH Zurich, Switzerland | \_zeller@bernina.ethz.ch_/ | * computer * (SFIT, Swiss Federal | / zeller@ethz.UUCP \ | * bigger than * Institute of Technology) | / ..chx400!ethz!zeller \ | * you can lift * ======================== +----------------------------+ *****************
