[comp.sys.mac.hardware] case of the backwards mouse

We had a gummed up ADB mouse which I attempted to clean up yesterday.
After having no sucess with the usual cleaing of the rollers, I opened
it up, and determined that some gunk had gotten into the contacts which
connect rotating plate at the end of the horizontal roller. Being a thumbs on
type, I immediatetly stuck a pointed instrument in there to clean out the
junk.

Reassemble, and try it out. Voila, all is smooth again, but the cursor now
moved in the OPPOSITE direction to the horizontal movement of the mouse!!!

I think what happened was that one of the three contacts had gotten bent,
and no longer was making contact. I've since mucked around abit more, and now
the mouse is going in the proper direction.

Does anyone know if this is the cause of this behavior?
