Evening Peoples. I have been working on quantum drives for 3 years. So i consider myself fairly well up to date on them. but for a change i've been confused. Quantum released a series of drives with server locking problems with the platter drive assembly, also rodime and a few seagates had this problem. The result was the drive doing nothing appart from chattering and then flashing the led, an indication the onboard computer detecting system failure. The replacement of the bearing rings and a gas recharge gave these drives a decent span of extended life, but lately people have been talking about the armature sticking. I have never come across bad bearing rings in the voice coil driven access system. The question i ask is, has anyone, who is informed or works on quantum drives ever come across this fault. As i have never. if you have, what was your remedy? quite curious actually! thanks in advance steve h
