Thanks to all those who have responded to my requests on the compatability of the CD Tech Porta Drive, its driver CD Tech Driver 1.31 with system 7. I appreciate the effort. But I am confused. I have gotten 3 persons contacting me via email and one via a response in this newsgroup. 2 say that you can boot with the drive and driver in system 7 (one of which says you cannot use the driver in the control panel-it dies at that point but will still mount the CD Tech Portadrive). 2 say that the Driver will not work at all and the CD Tech Portadrive will not mount at all with that driver. One of these uses another SCSI mounter to mount the drive instead. So its 50/50 in terms of whether the driver works or not. Can anyone clarify this for me. I may when I get system 7 for my own system (the CD ROM is on test it on the system withe the CD ROM drive and the BBS and just bury the old system 6.05 in a folder to restore if the system 7 does not work. This question has gotten interesting to me since the experiences are mixed. I wonder if it depends on the version of the driver. One person even indicated the problem had to do with the fact that the CD Tech Driver 1.31 was not a 32 bit clean application. So maybe if that feature is turned off in the Memory control Cdeve of System 7 the driver will work. If so that would be fine since the CD Tech Porta Drive is on a SE/30 running the BBS and thus does not have 32 bit clean roms anyway. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Russ Jacobson INTERNET: jacobson@ux1.cso.uiuc.edu Illinois Geological Survey FIDONET: 1:233/14 and 1:233/14.1 Champaign, IL 61820 Avalon BBS: 217-384-3128 (sysop) 217-244-2425 Home Phone: 217-384-6983 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
