Having just purchased a new hard disk, and not having too much experience with hardware issues, I have two questions that I hope someone out there can answer: (1) What is the difference between hard and soft partitions (I understand the former are preferable over the latter), and how can I tell what kind my driver (SCSI Commander) produces? (2) Recently, there have been some articles about compatibility of driver software with System 7. Why is that an issue? As I understand it, you only use the software once, to set up the drive, and System 7 takes care of converting the various disk file structures to whatever it needs, no? What am I missing? Any help is appreciated. - Gerhard -- -> Gerhard Mehldau Dept. of Computer Science internet: gerhard@cs.arizona.edu University of Arizona uucp: {cmcl2,noao,uunet}!arizona!gerhard Tucson, AZ 85721, U.S.A. voice: +1 (602) 621-4632
