[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Slow Printing; is this normal?

I've got a couple of users complaining about sporadic extremely slow
printing.  I've asked about some of the obvious problems (different print
drivers, that sort of thing) with no obvious answers presenting themselves.
In particular, they notice this on a LaserWriter II (maybe and NT, maybe just
a vanilla II), versus printing to a LaserWriter Plus.  *everyone*'s using Mac
Pluses, and should be using LesrWriter and Laser Prep version 4.0 (yeah, no
typo; someone tried to upgrade before I got here, and they forced to
downgrade to that).  Any thoughts?  Is there any reason to suspect that a
later version of the LaserWriter/Laser Prep software would help?
