A friend has a mac+ with a flakey monitor/analog board that I'm trying to at least diagnose and maybe fix. The symptoms are something like this: The monitor display normally won't appear at all (no pixels lit). But, if you lie the machine down with the analog board down, everything works fine -- the display appears. As the machine is tilted from the vertical to the horizontal, the image will often appear when the machine is at an angle of about 45 degrees. Secondly, there is a steady, audible clicking coming from the area of the CRT neck. It appears to be a bad connection (possible due to a bad solder joint?), but I don't know where to look. Any suggestions? thanks, --mike Mike Carlton carlton@cs.berkeley.edu
