Hi! I work in a computer cluster at Carnegie Mellon where the largest use that our CD ROM drive is getting is as a CD player for audio CD's. My question is whether this near-constant use is bad for it. I've noticed that the CD's are pretty warm (hot is more like it) when they are done playing. I'd also like to know if there's anything we can do to cut down on the excessive amount of heat being generated. We are using an apple CD ROM drive. once again: 1) is this bad for the CD ROM drive and/or CD's? 2) is there any way to reduce the amount of heat generated? (other than by using a small fan to generate constant air movement through/around the drive) Thanks, Brad
