[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Broken internal SE/30 screen -- any ideas?

jeff@archone.tamu.edu (Jeff Raymond) (04/30/91)

Just recently, the internal screen on my SE/30 flaked out. It's now almost
entirely white, with white nearly horizontal running across the top of it
and curving downward as they reach the right edge. Nothing shows up on it,
although it's still recognized by the machine as screen space (as it should);
you can drag things off to it, although odds are you'll never find them
again.

Anybody ever have this happen to them, or know of what might cause it, and
how much the Apple mechanic is going to nail me to fix it?

Thanks.

Call Micromat - they'll sell you a new tube for your machine for $99,
along with instructions for installation. When you install it, they'll
walk you through it over the phone. If you're nervous about trying this
yourself, ship them your machine and they'll do the whole job for $125
(tube and installation).

The above prices are for a vanilla SE, but I assume the tube is the same
for the SE/30.

Micromat's phone number is (800) 829-6227.
