[comp.sys.mac.hardware] IIsi questions!!!

6600dayl@ucsbuxa.ucsb.edu (Darryl "NOT Sara" Lee) (05/08/91)

a couple of questions:

1.	Has anybody tried one of those "nubus extenders" which is supposed
to give the 2si something like...4 more nubus slots? how well does it
work? how much does it cost? and most importantly, how does it deal
with the limitations of the power supply?

2.	i downloaded (from sumex, or umich or somewhere) a program
called "video card utility" which is supposed to provide a RS-170
compatible (supposedly this means regular composite video), flicker-
free image out of a normal Apple 8-bit video card
(after building the proper cable). Is there any way to get such a
thing to work with the built-in video of the si? (Right now the thing
complains about a missing board). The docs say that pins 5
and 6 on a DB-15 connector of a video card are the signal and ground,
repectively, but my docs have those pins assigned to green.video
	signal and ground, respectively...

if i just plugged a vcr (or monochrome monitor) into those
pins, and put my computer in monochrome mode, would i be risking
severe frying? or would it provide me with really cheap video?? (hope
	hope hope...)

So...thanks a lot for your time...

post or e-mail responses...i don't care. Thanks for answering....
