[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Northgate keyboards: summary

dbreiden@mentor.cc.purdue.edu (Danny Breidenbach) (05/09/91)

Here is what I've found out about Northgate extended keyboards for the Mac.

I got one good review from a professor of mine, he brought the company
to my attention. I trust his judgement highly.

Here are replies to my post:

I have a Northgate extended, which I use on my mac plus, I like it.
It is especially good for the plus, which has limited ext. keyboard
options, and it is definetely much better than Datadesk's.

Through Eric, I got the number for keyboard sales: 800 526 2446

I read a letter from a technician in a magazine recently (so take the information with
caution), in which he complained that their quality has been going downhill. He wrote that
some of them were so flimsey they could be twisted, and were only equivalent to really
cheap clone keyboards, althought the ones with the function keys on the left were still
good.

I thought they'd discontinued their Mac-capable model - could you email me back with info
on it if it still exists?

Northgate is discontinuing their Mac keyboard, I suggest you get something
else in case you need support. If you still want Northgate, you should be able
to find them advertising in Computer Shopper magazine.

I hope this helps.

I called Northgate, it turns out that they have transferred or sold their
Mac supprt stuff to Ehman Inc. (307) 789-3830.

I plan to call Ehman up and get some info -- if anyone knows anything about it,
super.
