[comp.sys.mac.hardware] IIsi SCSI problem

marc@porsche944.Eng.Sun.COM (Marc Schneider) (05/10/91)

Howdy all,

I've just finished installing a maxtor LXT-100 (external case) to my
IIsi.

Problem: the maxtor won't spin up if the SCSI cable is connected to
the Mac. If I disconnect it, it will spin up. Then I reconnect it, and
power up the Mac.

The Mac "see's" the drive, and everything is fine after that.

A few Facts:

1) It's the only SCSI device.
2) It's terminated on the drive
3) the SCSI cable is 3ft long.

Q: Could the terminators installed on the drive be the wrong value and
are overly loading the SCSI bus? Is there a jumper to allow the host
to control spin-up that I don't know about? Any ideas?????

(frustrated)

Thanks,
