Hi Folks, I don't usually follow this group so let me know if my question is (in)appropriate for posting here. I have an old Jasmine 100 meg external drive. I determined that it uses a Rodime R05000S mechanism. Unfortunately it has crashed. I have tried SUM and Norton Utilities on it. Both indicate that the drive media is fine, but the SCSI map is trashed. Somehow, I must have inadvertantly plugged it into a running Mac and caused it to forget the partition arrangement I had on it. Since the data itself seems to be intact, I can't stand not being able to recover everything. No, I am an idiot, it was not backed up. I never saved (SUM) VIF specifications for my partitions. When I use SUM to try to recover the files using the VIF for one (100 meg) partition I get back lots of good named files containing bits and pieces of each other and garbage. Jasmine was (naturally) very unhelpful. What I would like to know is if I can find out information on the mechanism or how the SCSI map information might have been stored, etc., will that help me? I theorize that if I can determine where the partitions start/stopped, then I should be able to use SUM to recover each partition. Are there any good books on this topic? Any information would be greatly appreciated. -- James |-----------------------------------------------------------------------| | James R.
