[comp.sys.mac.hardware] Setting up a network

ta-dw30@cunixa.cc.columbia.edu (David Worenklein) (05/13/91)

I'm wondering if somebody could help a poor college student/hardware-novice mac
user. I'm about to take the plunge and invest in a nice little laser printer,
probably the TI MicroLaser.

Minimally, I need to connect my Mac IIci to the printer. But what I really want
to do is connect my computer and printer to 1-6 other Pluses, SE's, and II's
and even be able to use such fun little tools as Public Folder or Oscar or (God
Willing) System 7's file sharing. The optimal for me would be to hook the 6
computers up to my friends AppleShare File Server down the hall. (He's using
PhoneNet connectors, but don't ask me what brand - I'll find out if it makes
a difference.)

The question is, is there a cheap, reliable way to attach all or some of
the above? I'm too much of a wimp to build a cap-phone-net connector
(described in Info-Mac digest a while back). Any help will be appreciated.
If you have the same question, tell me and I'll summarize all replies.

Thanks in advance.
