I posted this a while ago, but the only responses were from people who desired such a product. Not from people who know where to buy one. For those of you who send notes asking me to forward an answer, I lost your names when my account was moved. You will have to resend those. ----------------------------- I am aware of a card for the PC that will allow hard drives to be backed up to a standard VCR. This is done by having the card send the data over an RCA cable to the VCR. The user sets the software to start backing up at a certain time, and also sets the VCR to start recording at the same time. A standard VCR can record 240 megs of data. Because many people have VCRs and the tapes are very inexpensive (compared to a $30 streaming tape) this is a very desireable device. The company that manufactures the IBM version started on a Mac version that used the SCSI port. However, they never finished. Also, I can't remember their name. Does anyone know of a way to back up a Mac drive to a VCR? Since the IBM version costs $199, this is also much cheaper than a good tape backup for those of us who own VCRs. Thank you for any ideas. If I find such a device, I will post a note on the net with info on it. Perhaps one will show up at the MacWorld Expo this summer in Boston... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- David M.
